Hayden Chamber banquet March 21
On March 21, the Hayden Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual banquet. The evening will begin at 5 p.m. at the Hayden Lake Country Club, 2362 E. Bozanta Drive.
The Chamber will present the 2009 Hayden Awards, including recognition of Hayden’s Distinguished Veteran, Teachers of the Year, Firefighters of the Year and new Hayden Boy Scout Troop 911. The event also includes a silent auction, raffle and music by NorthPoint.

Tickets for Really BIG Raffle on sale
Tickets to the North Idaho College Foundation’s Really BIG Raffle are now on sale.
The 16th annual fundraiser for NIC supports student and program needs, along with a learning laboratory for NIC’s carpentry students.
Prizes include a $300,000 home; a car valued at $20,000; a $10,000 boat; a $3,500 vacation package; and a $2,000 shopping spree. Tickets purchased on or before May 1 qualify for early bird prizes, including a $500 Costco gift card and a $250 gas card.
The grand-prize home is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom rancher with a full, unfinished basement. Features include granite counters in the kitchen, a dual-sided gas fireplace, central air conditioning, covered deck, skylight, a three-car garage and a fully landscaped corner lot.
Only 5,000 tickets will be sold before the drawing on July 8. Ticket holders do not need to be present to win. Tickets are $100 each.

Street trees available to homeowners
The city of Coeur d’Alene has announced a plan for a street tree planting project.
The city is offering free street trees for new subdivisions Sunshine Meadows, the Landings at Waterford, Ramsey Meadows, Copper Ridge, Jac’s Place, Echo Glenn and Prospector Ridge.
Types of trees available for spring planting include honey locust, white ash and black tupelo. There are a limited number of trees and they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lavender Guild plans April swap and sale
The Northwest Lavender Guild will hold a Gardener’s Swap and Sale at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds in April.
Members are collecting new and gently used garden art, crafts, tools, pots, produce and plants.
