In brief: Stateline posts track schedule
Stateline Speedway released a tentative schedule for the 2009 racing season.
The opener is slated for April 4, with the Racer’s Jamboree featuring a variety of classes.
Wednesday Night Fever will begin April 8.
Weekend events in April will start at 5 p.m. Season tickets can be ordered online at www.raceidaho.com.
Women’s golf
Jessica Howe shot a final-round 74 to finish tied for 23rd and help the Gonzaga Bulldogs finish seventh at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational hosted by Rollins College in Winter Springs, Fla.
Women’s basketball
Eastern Washington Eagles sophomore Julie Piper earned All-Big Sky conference honorable mention after averaging 10.1 points and 6.8 rebounds this season.
Men’s tennis
Eastern Washington’s Nico Riego de Dios was named the Big Sky Conference player of the week after he helped the Eagles rout Montana State 7-0 and played well in a 4-3 non-conference loss to Idaho.
Riego de Dios went 3-0 in No. 1 doubles play and 1-1 in No. 1 singles matches.
