Two held in Pullman shooting

The Whitman County prosecutor Tuesday issued warrants against two Moscow, Idaho, men arrested earlier in the day in connection with an overnight shooting at an apartment in Pullman.

Lewis A. Lawrence, 20, was being held at Latah County Jail on three counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree burglary.

Also held was Rylan J. Wallace, 21, on a charge of first-degree rendering criminal assistance.

The pair were arrested in Moscow a short time after a 12:30 a.m. shooting. One of three occupants of an apartment at Providence Court, at Stadium Way and Valley Road, was injured, said Cmdr. Chris Tennant, of the Pullman Police Department.

A 22-year-old Pullman man at the apartment reportedly answered the door and was shot in the head by a gunman, who fired two other shots into the apartment, missing two other occupants, Tennant said.

The injured man was taken to Pullman Regional Hospital, where he was being treated for a non-lethal injury to the head, Tennant said.

The gunman fled in a vehicle, and Pullman police issued a bulletin asking for help from other law agencies in finding it.

Moscow police stopped Lewis and Wallace in a vehicle matching the description in the bulletin. A weapon was seized.

Tennant said the victims were cooperating with investigators, but a motive for the shooting had not been determined.

Investigators were working on obtaining warrants to conduct searches as part of their investigation Tuesday, Tennant said. Authorities in Whitman County are expected to pursue extradition against the two suspects, he added.
