Man, 18, arrested in Cabela’s robbery

From Staff Reports

An 18-year-old Spokane Valley man was arrested after police say he robbed a man he intended to sell drugs to in the parking lot at Cabela’s in Post Falls.

The victim told Post Falls Police detectives he had gone to meet the robbery suspect, later identified as Jamal Davis, about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday to test-drive a white Jeep.

The victim called police and said that when he got in the car to test-drive it, Davis pointed a black semiautomatic pistol at his chest and demanded his money. He said he gave Davis $3,000 cash he brought to buy the car and ran.

Police said they later determined the victim intended to buy a large amount of marijuana from Davis, not a Jeep.

Davis cooperated with investigators, who said they believe he used the money to pay off another drug dealer. The pistol he used in the robbery turned out to be a BB gun, police said.

Davis was arrested on robbery charges and booked into the Kootenai County Jail.
