Shuffled Left-hander Tom Gorzelanny, a former 14-game winner who was demoted to the minors, was recalled by Pittsburgh from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday. Gorzelanny takes the roster spot of right-handed Tyler Yates, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Saturday with an inflamed elbow.

•The Tampa Bay Rays placed designated hitter Pat Burrell on the 15-day disabled list with a neck strain. The move is retroactive to May 11, and Rays manager Joe Maddon said he doesn’t expect it to be an “extended DL” stay. Tampa Bay also reinstated reliever Jason Isringhausen from the 15-day disabled list. The right-hander is coming back from right elbow surgery.

•The Cleveland Indians have purchased the contracts of pitchers David Huff and Greg Aquino from Triple-A Columbus. Huff made his major league debut as Sunday’s starter. Aquino will work out of the bullpen. To make room on the roster, Cleveland optioned reliever Tony Sipp and outrighted right-hander Masa Kobayashi to Columbus.

Bereavement The Tigers announced that outfielder Magglio Ordonez will go on the bereavement list today to deal with “personal business.” Neither the team nor Ordonez has elaborated on the cause of his absence.

Juan Uribe has been placed on the bereavement list by the San Francisco Giants so the infielder can be in his native Dominican Republic to visit his ailing grandfather. Uribe left the team Saturday night and the club recalled infielder Kevin Frandsen from Triple-A Fresno to fill his roster spot.

Dismissed Forward Juan Pattillo has been kicked off Oklahoma’s basketball team for an undisclosed violation of team policy. Sooners coach Jeff Capel says he will not comment on Pattillo’s dismissal.
