Spokane, CdA children test positive for swine flu

From Staff Reports

Two children – one each from Spokane and Coeur d’Alene – have tested positive for the influenza A (H1N1) virus, also called swine flu.

The Spokane child attends elementary school at St. Charles.

The Coeur d’Alene child is a student at Ramsey Elementary School. The Panhandle Health District reported Monday afternoon that the child did not attend school while ill.

Health officials say the student became infected while traveling out of state by car. The student has recovered from the contagious disease and did not require hospitalization.

It’s the fourth case in Spokane County. There are now 410 confirmed cases in the state of Washington.

Kootenai County has had two cases.
