Memorial Day weekend marks shift to summer schedules

Two Valley churches are using the Memorial Day weekend to kick off summer worship schedules, with other churches sure to follow in the next few weeks.

• Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway Ave., will now offer one combined worship service at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday.

• Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye Ave., will also switch to a combined worship service at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday. The schedule will continue through Labor Day.

Free movie

The movie “Fireproof” will be shown today at 6:30 p.m. at Dishman Baptist Church, 315 N. Argonne Road. The Christian-theme movie starring Kirk Cameron follows a firefighter’s struggle in his marriage. Admission is free, and child care will be available.
