Spokane Comicon set for May 30

Third Annual Event

By PINCH staff

Comic fans of all ages will enjoy the third annual Spokane Comicon, May 30 at Spokane Falls Community College.

This is a new location for the event that attracts hundreds of guests and more than 50 vendors. It runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. in the SUB. Admission is $5; ages 10 and under free with a paid adult.

There will be 53 vendors plus a variety of guests and comic professionals from the West Coast, some of whom will hold panel discussions or q/a opportunities. One of the special guests will be Art Thibert, who has an extensive resume as an artist, penciler and inker for Marvel, D.C. and independent publishers. He was involved with many of Marvel’s X-Men titles in the 1990s.

Raffle tickets are $1 for a variety of prizes, browse free items or come in costume for the traditional costume contest (judging is at 4 p.m.). The Comic Book Shop has donated prizes for adult and child costume winners.

There will also be a display of original artwork created just for this show, and people can also meet Darth Vader and members of the 501st Stormtrooper Legion.

The first 100 people will receive a gift bag that includes a 35mm cell from “Watchman.”

Comicon T-shirts will be available for $10 apiece, and proceeds benefit student clubs at SFCC.
