Suspect identified in officer’s killing
SEATTLE – A man shot by police as he was sought in connection with the Halloween killing of a Seattle police officer has been identified as 41-year-old Christopher Monfort.
Seattle assistant police chief Jim Pugel said that a search Saturday morning of Monfort’s apartment turned up two rifles and improvised explosive devices, which were disarmed by police before they were removed.
Monfort was in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center Saturday.
Police say Monfort is suspected of killing Officer Timothy Brenton, who was fatally shot Oct. 31.
