Barrichello takes Grand Prix pole

SAO PAULO – Rubens Barrichello won the pole for his hometown Brazilian Grand Prix in a chaotic qualifying session that was affected by heavy rain.

He’s the only title contender who will start in the top 10 for today’s race.

Brawn GP teammate and Formula One championship leader Jenson Button will start 14th and Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel in 16th. Both drivers struggled in a qualifying session that was interrupted twice by red flags and delayed several times because of treacherous track conditions Saturday.

The 37-year-old Barrichello clocked 1 minute, 19.576 seconds on the 2.6-mile Interlagos track, edging Red Bull’s Mark Webber and Force India’s Adrian Sutil.
