New faces

Dr. Ndegwa Njuguna has joined Cancer Care Northwest as a medical oncologist and hematologist for center’s south and Valley offices. He recently completed a fellowship in oncology and hematology at the National Cancer Institute and has conducted research on the development of new drug therapies for chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Inland Family Medicine has hired Dr. Juan Bala in the practice of family medicine. He is a graduate of Creighton University School of Medicine, where he also completed his internship and fellowship.

Jon Luciani has been hired as a sales associate for Kiemle and Hagood Co.’s Brokerage Division. He previously worked as a sales associate for another local commercial real estate firm and as a sales consultant with Downtown Toyota Automotive Group. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Eastern Washington University and is a licensed Realtor in Washington.

Providence Health Care as hired Dr. Michael Haight as vice president of Medical Affairs for Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital and as lead pediatric physician for Providence Physician Services. Dr. Haight previously served as chief medical officer for Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at the University of California – Davis.

Northwest Medstar has hired Susan Kies as a dispatcher for the company’s communication center. She has 13 years of law enforcement and fire dispatch experience.

Kudos

Karene Garlich-Loman has earned the certified residential specialist designation from the Council of Residential Specialists. She is a Realtor with Tomlinson South.

Commerce Street Capital LLC investment banking firm has awarded Robert Shypitka with a James B. Gardner Scholarship, worth $2,500. Shypitka is enrolled in the SW Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University and works as vice president and sales manager of Banner Bank in Spokane Valley.

Gifts

The Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program has donated $60,000 to Second Harvest Inland Northwest’s Mobile Food Bank Program. The program provides food supplies, including fresh produce, to high-need communities in rural and urban areas of Eastern Washington.

Appointed

David Ruff has become a new board member on the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery’s board of trustees. Ruff works as general manager for Coffman Engineers.

Elected

The Washington State Bar Association has elected Nancy Isserlis as the fifth congressional district governor. Isserlis serves as an attorney with Winston and Cashatt.

The following have been elected as new members to serve three-year terms on Spokane County United Way’s board: Dr. Polly Crowley of West Valley School District; Cheryl-Anne Millsap of Spokane Metro Magazine; John Moloney of Moloney, O’Neill, Corkery and Jones; Staci Vesneske of Spokane Public Schools; and Besty Wilkerson of Moore’s Boarding Home.
