Suspect held at border

BLAINE, Wash. – A man bleeding from his wrists was arrested at the Canadian border and was being held on a fugitive warrant in the death of his wife in California, police and customs officials said Monday.

John Ligon Levin, 44, was arrested Saturday at the Peace Arch crossing in Blaine as he tried to enter Canada, said customs officers and Sgt. Tom Lorenz of the Glendale, Calif., police department.

Authorities said he was driving a 2009 Volkswagen EOS convertible with a license plate listed in a missing person alert concerning the Glendale death of his wife, Michelle Levin, 35.

Officers on Friday found the decomposing bodies of Michelle Levin and the couple’s small dog and no sign of her husband, Lorenz said.
