Man charged with rape

A 33-year-old man was charged Wednesday for a July 30 rape in Osburn, Idaho.

Police allege Justin H. Smith assaulted a 32-year-old Osburn woman as she walked home alone around 2 a.m. District Court Judge Patrick McFadden also issued a no-contact order for one year, according to the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office. This assault was the fourth that has occurred in Shoshone County since May, but the Osburn police said they don’t know whether Smith is suspected in any of the other attacks.

After the July 30 incident, area police, a women’s center, and the county prosecutor formed the Shoshone County Sexual Assault Task Force, which the Sheriff’s Office said aided in the arrest.
