Ballots must be sent by Tuesday

More than 20 percent of ballots mailed to Spokane County voters for Tuesday’s primary election have been returned so far. Spokane County Elections Manager Mike McLaughlin said his office expects a final return rate of about 40 percent. Ballots must be postmarked by Tuesday to count. McLaughlin suggested that anyone casting a ballot on Tuesday make sure that the mailbox hasn’t had its final collection of the day. Voters also can drop off ballots in several boxes maintained by the Elections Office. Locations include the STA Plaza and Spokane, Spokane County and Liberty Lake library branches. The top two candidates in most races will move to November’s general election.
