Moses Lake teen exchanges gunfire with deputies

Associated Press
MOSES LAKE — No one was hurt in a shootout between Grant County sheriff’s deputies and a 13-year-old boy at Moses Lake. The sheriff’s office says deputies were called to a home Wednesday afternoon on a report from a woman who said her son was throwing rocks at her car. Deputies say when they arrived the boy began firing at them with a .22 caliber rifle. Shots hit patrol cars. Deputies returned fire. The boy finally obeyed commands to stop firing and was arrested. Two deputies are on paid leave while the Columbia Basin Investigative Team handles the case.
