Colfax captures crown

Rachel Johnson scored 22 points, Kayla Johnson added 14 points and 14 rebounds and the Colfax Bulldogs (17-3, 11-1) defeated visiting Reardan 73-49 to capture the Bi-County 2B regular-season championship, snapping a tie atop the standings with the Indians (17-3, 10-2).

The Bulldogs shot 48 percent from the floor, scoring 38 first-half points to put the game out of reach early.

Lind-Ritzville 48, Northwest Christian 28: Heather Whitmore helped pace the host Broncos (12-8, 8-4) to a nine-point halftime lead, scoring 10 of her 13 points before the break. The win secured third place for the Broncos, matching them up with Valley Christian in the opening round of the Bi-County 2B tournament Tuesday. The Crusaders (10-10, 6-6) finished fourth in the league and will host Liberty.

Liberty 67, Valley Christian 43: Katra Browning went 7 of 8 from the floor for 16 points and the Lancers (11-9, 4-8) held on to fifth place by knocking off the Panthers (8-12, 2-10) at Valley Christian.

Great Northern

Deer Park 46, Cheney 36: Alison Ruygrok had 11 points, Stacia Obert added 10 points and eight rebounds and the Stags (5-11, 2-8) hit 24 of 32 free throws to outlast the Blackhawks (8-8, 4-6) in Deer Park. After building a 22-7 lead at halftime, the Stags saw their advantage shrink to seven before holding off the comeback with a 16-13 edge in the fourth quarter.

Medical Lake 52, Clarkston 49: Amelia Cook hit 5 of 9 from 3-point range and finished with 23 points and the Cardinals (5-11, 4-6) kept a hold on the sixth and final playoff spot out of the GNL with a win over the visiting Bantams (7-8, 5-4). After going up by nine, the Cardinals saw their lead shrink to three on back-to-back 3-pointers with 50 seconds remaining, but held on. Kellie McCann-Smith had 22 points for Clarkston.

West Valley 56, Riverside 21: Shaniqua Nilles led all scorers with 16 points – hitting 4 of 4 3-pointers – and Nicki Lawless and Hannah Love added 10 each as the Eagles (16-0, 10-0) coasted past the Rams (2-13, 0-9) in Riverside. As a team, the Eagles were 9 of 18 from beyond the arc.

Northeast A

Lakeside 56, Kettle Falls 35: Leslie Stillar had 21 points and the host Eagles (18-2, 7-1) locked up a first-place tie with Freeman by beating the visiting Bulldogs (11-8, 3-5). The Eagles and Scotties will have a coin flip Tuesday to decide the top seed, while KF and Newport will play Monday at Chewelah in a tiebreaker for third.

Bi-County 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 67, Odessa 17: Nikki Osborne had 15 points and the Warriors (17-3, 6-0) finished with an unbeaten league record by running past the Tigers (3-17, 2-4) in Odessa.

ACH will play the loser of today’s Curlew vs. Cusick game in the opening round of the District 7 1B tournament Wednesday.

District 9 North

Colton 68, LaCrosse-Washtucna 23: Haley Moser had 14 points and Kelsey Moser and Mckenzie Heaslet each added 11 as the visiting Wildcats (19-1, 9-1) awoke from a slow start – scoring just five points in the first quarter – to outscore the Tigercats (7-13, 2-8) 63-20 in the final three quarters, hitting six 3-pointers throughout the game.

Rosalia 48, St. John-Endicott 43: Briann Maley tallied 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Spartans (11-8, 6-3) to an upset win over the Eagles (17-2, 7-2) in Rosalia. Outscoring the Eagles 15-7 in the fourth quarter, the Spartans did their damage from the free-throw line, hitting 17 of 24 for the game, while SJE hit 1 of 7.

Tekoa-Oakesdale 46, Garfield-Palouse 31: Desiree Chappell had 19 points and Alexandria Overton chipped in with 13 as the Nighthawks (9-9, 3-2) jumped out to a 14-2 lead over the host Vikings (2-15, 0-6) after one quarter and never looked back.

Nonleague

Davenport 53, Sprague-Harrington 32: The Falcons (7-13) held Miranda Mielke to 14 points, but the Gorillas (7-13) found other ways to score, knocking off the Falcons in Davenport. Kenzie Graber added 12 points and the Gorillas had a 42-19 rebounding edge.

Idaho 5A Region 1

Coeur d’Alene 48, Lake City 38: Three players scored in double figures for the Vikings (18-3), led by Dayna Drager’s 17, in a win over the Timberwolves (14-7) in the opening round of the tournament Friday in Lewiston.

Lewiston 51, Post Falls 35: Jessica Kramer and Savannah Blinn combined for 27 points and the Bengals (18-2) advanced past their first-round test against the Trojans (13-8) to set up a rematch against Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday in Lewiston with the No. 1 spot out of Region 1 5A on the line.

The Trojans will play Lake City.
