He has a point – of sorts

The Spokesman-Review

Steve Dunham (Letters, Feb 3) suggests drastic cuts in government and “cradle to grave welfare.” He got me thinking, and he may have a point.

There are several categories of people who are causing expenses which America could do without. If we would just cut them off, hopefully they would disappear. These categories include the unemployed, the mentally ill, the elderly, those without health insurance, illegal immigrants, convicted criminals and those burdens on society, children who want educations. We also could save a lot of money by cutting out health care altogether. We could also eliminate wars, but that would increase unemployment, and people like wars.

After all, people need to get used to the idea of taking care of themselves. And if people voluntarily choose not to take care of themselves, well they can just disappear. Yes, I think Mr. Dunham has a point.
