In brief: Howard powers Magic past Cavaliers
NBA: Dwight Howard had 22 points and 16 rebounds in a bruising battle with Shaquille O’Neal, and the Orlando Magic beat Cleveland 101-95 on Sunday at Orlando, Fla., for the Cavaliers’ first three-game losing streak in two years.
Cleveland’s skid comes on the heels of a 13-game win streak.
Howard was 8 for 13 shooting and added four blocks, and Vince Carter had eight of his 11 points in the fourth quarter to help the Magic beat Cleveland for the first time this season.
•Boozer leads huge rally by Jazz: Carlos Boozer scored on an offensive putback at the end of regulation to force overtime, then gave Utah its first lead since the opening minutes, and the Jazz rallied from down 25 in the third quarter to stun the Portland Trail Blazers 93-89 in overtime at Portland.
Down 64-39 with 7 minutes left in the third quarter, Utah staged a shocking rally by outscoring the Blazers 44-19 over the final 19 minutes.
Boozer finished with 22 points and a career-best 23 rebounds.
Brandon Roy led Portland with 23 points.
•Smith’s big 4th helps Nuggets top Celtics: J.R. Smith scored 16 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter and the Denver Nuggets recovered from blowing an early 20-point lead to beat the Boston Celtics 114-105 at Denver.
Chauncey Billups had 26 points and Carmelo Anthony had 23 for the Nuggets, who avoided back-to-back losses for the first time since late December with the victory over the NBA’s top road team.
Ray Allen had 25 points and Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo and Marquis Daniels added 15 points each for the Celtics, who lost for the first time in their last four road games.
•Durant, Westbrook help Thunder extend win streak: Kevin Durant scored 32 points to extend his streak of games with at least 25 points to 28 games and Russell Westbrook had a triple-double to lead the surging Oklahoma City Thunder to a 109-107 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves at Minneapolis.
Westbrook had 22 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists and Jeff Green added 17 points and 14 rebounds for the Thunder, who have won nine in a row.
NC community college player dies
College men: A community college basketball player died after he collapsed while playing in a game in Henderson, N.C., officials said.
Raymond Dunn, a 6-4 sophomore forward for Vance Granville, collapsed on the court near the end of the first half of a game against Guilford Tech, Vance Granville President Randy Parker said.
Dunn was taken to nearby Maria Parham Medical Center, where nursing supervisor Shannon Anderson said he was pronounced dead.
Kevin Gerity with the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office said an autopsy was conducted, but the results were not yet available.
•Pitt upsets No. 3 Villanova: Ashton Gibbs scored 21 points and No. 19 Pittsburgh upset No. 3 Villanova 70-65 at Pittsburgh.
Gilbert Brown added 16 points, including a thunderous dunk off a baseline move with 1:29 left that gave the Panthers (21-6, 10-4 Big East) a six-point lead.
Scottie Reynolds finished with 20 points, and his three foul shots with 7 seconds left got the Wildcats (22-4, 11-3) within three, but Pitt withstood Villanova’s late pressure.
•No. 9 Buckeyes beat No. 11 Michigan State: Evan Turner scored 20 points and No. 9 Ohio State earned a 74-67 win over No. 11 Michigan State at East Lansing, Mich.
William Buford had 17 points for the Buckeyes (21-7, 11-4 Big Ten), who pulled into a second-place tie with the Spartans in the conference.
Durrell Summers scored 16 points for Michigan State (21-7, 11-4). Summers scored seven straight points, including a dunk and a 3-pointer, to give Michigan State a 62-61 lead with 4:05 remaining.
Buford hit two free throws to put the Buckeyes back on top 63-62. Turner’s jumper gave Ohio State a 65-62 lead with 2:55 left.

College women: Brittney Thomas scored 19 points, including a basket to trigger an 8-0 run and two clinching free throws in overtime, to lead Michigan State to a 71-68 victory over No. 7 Ohio State at Columbus, Ohio.
Lykendra Johnson added 14 points and Kalisha Keane 10 for the Spartans (19-8, 10-6 Big Ten), who have won four in a row and eight of nine.
Jantel Lavender had 24 points and 11 rebounds, Prahalis 17 points and Schulze nine points and 10 rebounds for the Buckeyes (26-4, 14-3).
Querrey rallies to beat Isner in Memphis
Tennis: Sam Querrey rallied in the second tiebreaker and took advantage of a faltering John Isner in the third set, winning the Morgan Keegan Championships at Memphis, Tenn., 6-7 (3), 7-6 (5), 6-3.
Isner overpowered his doubles partner and future Davis Cup teammate in the first set, but faltered after taking a 5-2 lead in the second-set tiebreaker. Two points from defeat, Querrey fought back for his third career title and first this season.
Later on, Querrey and Isner defeated Ross Hutchins and Jordan Kerr in the men’s doubles final.
•Ferrero downs Ferrer in Copa Telmex final: Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain defeated compatriot David Ferrer in the final of the Copa Telmex played on outdoor clay at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The second-seeded Ferrero beat the top-seeded Ferrer 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in two hours and 32 minutes, saving seven of 11 break points he faced along the way.
•Duque Marino beats Kerber for Colombia title: Hometown favorite Mariana Duque Marino beat fifth-seeded Angelique Kerber of Germany 6-4 6-3 to win the Copa Colsanitas clay court tournament at Bogota, Colombia, for her first WTA title.
•Llodra tops Benneteau in Open 13 final: Unseeded Michael Llodra won his fourth career title when he beat eighth-seeded Julien Benneteau 6-3, 6-4 in an all-French final at the Open 13 at Marseille, France.
VanDam wins Bassmaster Classic
Fishing: Kevin VanDam won $500,000 for his third Bassmaster Classic title, beating Jeff Kriet by five pounds at Lay Lake in Birmingham, Ala.
VanDam, the Kalamazoo, Mich., pro who won his fifth Bassmaster Angler of the Year award last year, had a catch of 19 pounds, 7 ounces to finish with a three-day total of 51-6. Kriet, from Ardmore, Okla., finished at 46-6.
