Hatch helps Hounds win

Trying to remain unbeaten in Great Northern League play, Pullman received a big performance from Skylar Hatch, who scored 17 points with 11 rebounds to help fend off Cheney 48-43 Friday in Pullman.

DeAngelo Jones scored 24 points on 10-of-19 shooting for the Blackhawks (6-4, 2-2), but the could not pull ahead as the Greyhounds hit 16 of 22 from the free-throw line to hold on for the win.

West Valley 39, Medical Lake 31: Brad Bagby led the Eagles (5-4, 2-1) with 16 points and Terrynce Duke scored the last of his six points late in the fourth quarter to put the game away against the Cardinals (1-8, 0-3) at West Valley. Kevin Fisher led ML with 13 points.

Riverside 45, Colville 42: Jordan Wood finished with 18 points and hit a pair of free throws in the final 3 seconds to seal the win for the Rams (3-6, 1-3) in Colville. Andrew Walsh scored 13 for the Indians (1-8, 0-3), who fell behind 17-9 after one quarter and could not recover, despite outscoring Riverside in the second half.

Clarkston 51, Deer Park 48: Dustin McConnell hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points and the Bantams (6-2, 3-0) held off the Stags (6-3, 2-1), despite a late run in the fourth quarter in Clarkston. After three quarters, The Bantams held a 13-point lead after three quarters, but behind 14 points from Tevin Heins, DP rallied to outscore them 17-7 in the fourth, falling just shy of the comeback win.

Northeast A

Chewelah 68, Kettle Falls 28: Four players reached double figures for the Cougars (10-5, 2-1), led by 16 from Josh Christian and 12 from Dallas Garner in Chewelah. Christian scored eight of his points in a 24-point second quarter that gave the Cougars a 25-point lead over the Bulldogs (1-11, 0-3) by halftime.

Lakeside 54, Newport 40: Chris Cochrane scored 18 points with seven rebounds and shot 7 of 8 from the free-throw line as the Eagles (7-7, 3-1) outscored the Grizzlies (4-10, 1-3) 30-18 in the second half in Newport. Jake Erickson added 13 points for Lakeside.

District 9 North

Rosalia 63, Pomeroy 30: Jim Maley hit 10 of 14 from the field for 24 points and the Spartans (15-0) coasted to a win after opening up a 24-point lead at halftime over the Pirates with a 21-4 second quarter in Pomeroy.

Garfield-Palouse 53, LaCrosse-Washtucna 32: Gavin Burt was a one-man show for the Vikings (7-2), scoring 33 of their 53 points against the host Tigercats (6-8). Burt, who scored 18 of G-P’s 22 points in the second quarter, hit 5 of 10 from 3-point range, finishing 11 of 26 overall.

St. John-Endicott 52, Tekoa-Oakesdale 40: In his first game back from a knee injury this fall, Warren Miller scored 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting and added seven rebounds to lift the Eagles (4-7) over the host Nighthawks (2-8). Also making his debut after an injury during the football season was T-O’s Brandon Hovde, who had 16 points and nine rebounds.

Asotin 58, Colton 55: Zach Lohman scored 10 points to lead the Panthers (7-5) over the Wildcats (3-8) in Asotin.

Wellpinit 67, Springdale 44: Cody Flett notched 13 of his 20 points in the first half as the Redskins (11-2, 8-0) opened a 13-point lead against the Chargers (8-7, 4-5) by halftime in Springdale. Drake Wynne added 16 points.

Republic 50, Columbia 34: Justin Wilson scored 16 points and the Tigers (8-4, 4-4) outscored the Lions (1-12, 1-8) 19-4 in the third quarter to pull away in Hunters. Elie Bear and Dominic Marquez combined to lead the Lions with 23 points.

Northport 61, Curlew 47: Adrian Konkler led the Mustangs (4-8, 2-7) with 22 points and Philip Johnson added 12 points and 12 rebounds in their win over the Cougars (0-11, 0-8) in Curlew. The Cougars cut the deficit to four in the fourth quarter, led by Tanner Somday’s 23 points, but were outscored 21-10 in the fourth.

Cusick 81, St. Michael’s 32: Tyler Edwards scored 21 points with nine boards and the Panthers (12-2, 8-0) had 11 of 12 players finish with points in a rout of the Warriors (2-8, 2-7) in Cusick. Spencer Shanholtzer added 12 points for the Panthers.

Inchelium 58, Selkirk 53: The Rangers (10-5, 7-3) had no answer for the Hornets’ (7-4, 5-3) Chad Rosenbaum, who scored 23 points and Inchelium held them to six points in the third quarter to take the lead for good in Ione.

Caribou Trail

Lake Roosevelt 68, Cashmere 46: Ty Egbert finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Cade Egbert added 17 points and the Raiders (7-5, 4-2) beat the host Bulldogs (7-5, 2-4). Ty Egbert helped the Raiders to a 24-point third quarter with 11 of his 20 points.

Nonleague

Freeman 58, Lakeland 49: In a crucial third quarter that saw the Scotties (11-3) take the lead for good, Taylor Vold, Peter Heinen and Cody Unfred combined for 13 of their 20 points with Heinen leading all scorers with 23 points against the Hawks (6-6) in Rathrdrum. Joel Underdahl paced the Hawks with 20 points.

Colfax 66, Wilbur-Creston 46: James Robinson scored 20 and Brandon Gfeller dropped eight of his 14 points in the fourth quarter – including a pair of 3-pointers – to help the Bulldogs (6-5) pull away from the Wildcats (10-3) in Colfax. Austin Snavely kept W-C in it for most of the game, hitting five shots from beyond the arc and finishing with 26 points.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 58, Reardan 57: Cody Jess had 28 points, Derek Isaak had 20 and the Warriors (7-6) outlasted the Indians (7-6) in Reardan. The Indians trailed by four at the end of the game, but a buzzer-beating halfcourt 3-pointer by Grant Schultz was not enough, as they fell by one. Schultz finished with 20, while Trevor Peone added 23 for Reardan.

Northwest Christian 75, Odessa 20: Cole Ramsey tallied 20 points and seven assists and the Crusaders (11-2) outscored the Tigers (6-8) 22-3 and 23-3 in the first and second quarters to take a commanding 49-point lead by halftime in Colbert.

Liberty 61, Sprague-Harrington 52: Terry Veile and Stefan Plesser each tallied 14 points and the Lancers (4-9) held the Falcons (1-11) to six points in the third quarter to pull ahead by 12 heading into the final period in Liberty.
