Spokane in brief: Event to benefit Haiti orphanage

EAST CENTRAL – Kids Sports, 416 N. Madelia St., will have a fundraiser full of music, dancing and fun Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit God’s Littlest Angels orphanage in Haiti.

The orphanage, located outside of Petionville, Haiti, sustained minimal damage in the Jan. 12 earthquake that has left much of Haiti in ruins. God’s Littlest Angels is in need of supplies and support as they prepare to take in children orphaned or injured from the disaster.

Cost for the children’s event is a $5 donation per child. All proceeds will benefit the orphanage.

Wine, desserts aid Lands Council

EAST CENTRAL – The Lands Council will host a wine and dessert tasting fundraiser on Feb. 11 at the Lone Canary Winery, 109 S. Scott St., from 6 to 9 p.m.

The Valentine’s-themed event will include appetizers and desserts from Coffee Social, Bruttles, Sweet Dreams Gourmet Bakery and Sweetwater Bakery. Wine will be provided by Lone Canary.

Tickets are $35 per person or $60 for two. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Proceeds will benefit The Lands Council, Spokane’s local conservation group.
