In brief: Students offered free sports exams

POST FALLS – Coeur d’Alene Pediatrics office in the Kootenai Health Park, 1300 E. Mullan Ave., will offer free sports physicals to middle and high school students on July 29, from noon to 4 p.m.

Exams meet most area schools’ physical exam requirements for participation in organized sports programs.

Exams will be done on a first-come, first-served basis and students must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Students must bring their immunization records with them. No registration is necessary.

A second round of free exams will be offered Aug. 19 in Hayden.

COEUR D’ALENE – The Coeur d’Alene Police Department will host Outdoor Movie Night in the band shell area at City Park on Friday, beginning at dusk, around 8:30 p.m.

Movie night will include Chief Wayne Longo as master of ceremonies, drug free and character education presentation by Officer Tom Sparks, formerly of the D.A.R.E. program, and the movie of the evening will be “Barnyard.”

Families are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and food. The local Kiwanis are providing free popcorn.

A second movie is planned for Aug. 13. The movie title is yet to be announced.

RATHDRUM – The Summer Concert Series will begin on Friday with Motorboat, rock ’n’ roll music of today and yesterday.

Concerts are held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at City Park, located at Highway 53 at Latah Road.

Other concerts include Back Adit, a swing, jazz, folk band, playing on July 30; The Pat Coast Band, a mix of blues and rock, will play on Aug. 6; and country western, country rock band Southern Comfort will play on Aug. 13.

Concerts are free and open to the public.
