Discussion series set
The Spokane Interfaith Council will present “From Intolerance to Understanding” a film and discussion group Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard Ave.
The group is the first in a series. The first film will be “Not in God’s Name,” a film that follows the Dalai Lama and his journey to overcome religious intolerance.
Light refreshments will be served.

Buddhism discussion
The Unity Center of North Spokane, 4123 E. Lincoln Ave., will present the Venerable Thubten Chodron Sunday at 1 p.m.
Chodron, founder and abbess of the Sarvasti Abbey in Newport, will speak on “Working with Anger.”

Volunteer openings
Catholic Charities of Spokane, 12 E. Fifth Ave., will offer a volunteer information coffee session Tuesday from 10 to 11:15 a.m.
Information will be available about volunteer opportunities at Bernadette Place, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Catholic Relief Services, Childbirth and Parenting Alone Program, the Christmas Bureau, counseling, House of Charity, the Parish Social Ministry, Refugee and Immigration Services, the regional offices, Respect Life, St. Anne’s Children and Family Center, St. Margaret’s Shelter, Senior and Family Housing and Senior Services.
Snacks and tours of the Catholic Charities Family Service Center will be available.

Celtic service
St. David’s Episcopal Church, 7315 N. Wall St., will present a Celtic Communion celebration today at 7 p.m.
The theme of this service will be “In the Steps of St. Cuthbert,” and includes a Christian service of communion, sung chants, Celtic prayers and music.
A potluck reception will follow the service.
