Spokane pools closed by rain today

The Spokesman-Review
Swimming pools in Spokane and Spokane County are being closed today due to rain and cool temperatures. A handful of swimming activities are continuing if participants show up, including lap swim sessions at Witter and Comstock pools in Spokane. The Spokane swim team will meet today at Witter Pool, but the swimmers are not going to go into the water, parks officials said. In the county, swim lessons are going on as scheduled at the Northside and Southside aquatic centers. Liberty Lake park will not have lifeguards today. Nancy Goodspeed, spokeswoman for Spokane city parks, said the city’s policy is to close pools when temperatures are below 65 degrees. She said pool users simply don’t turn out when it is that cool. The high in Spokane today was expected to reach about 60.
