In brief: Locker to sit Oregon game
Football: Washington quarterback Jake Locker won’t play on Saturday when the struggling Huskies face No. 1 Oregon.
Washington coach Steve Sarkisian said Monday that Locker had been playing with a hairline rib fracture that became a full break when Locker took a hit in the Huskies’ 41-0 loss to No. 10 Stanford on Saturday.
Sarkisian says Locker’s rib problems started with a cartilage injury suffered against Oregon State on Oct. 16 and progressively got worse. He was cleared by doctors to play against Stanford even with the hairline fracture.
Locker was just 7 of 14 passing for 64 yards and two interceptions against the Cardinal. He was sacked three times.
Redshirt freshman Keith Price will start againts Oregon and Nick Montana will be the backup. Cody Bruns and Jesse Callier, who each have high school experience playing quarterback, will be emergency QBs with the hope to preserve Montana’s redshirt year.

Seahawks feeling pain after loss
NFL: Pete Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks left Oakland humbled by a 33-3 rout and significantly beat up.
Carroll rattled off a long injury report on Monday, topped by a concussion suffered by quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and what sounds like a significant right knee injury to defensive end Red Bryant. Carroll deemed Hasselbeck’s concussion as “slight” and sounded optimistic he would be cleared to play on Sunday when the Seahawks play host to the New York Giants.
Bryant’s injury is more serious. Carroll says “he’ll be out a while at best.”
Other injuries for Seattle include offensive linemen Ben Hamilton (concussion) and Tyler Polumbus (knee), defensive tackle Colin Cole (ankle), and receivers Mike Williams (knee) and Golden Tate (ankle).
