Letters: Agency merely following law
This is in response to the scathing article about local law enforcement by David Teller,
Mr. Teller obviously holds the local police departments in low regard. Personally, I found his article disgusting. He demonstrated a total lack of knowledge of the laws and regulations governing the situations addressed. It’s Monday morning quarterbacking.
The men and women of law enforcement are sworn to protect Mr. Teller, his family, friends and the right to speak such nonsense. They have dedicated their lives to uphold our laws. Some of these laws and regulations may seem frivolous to Mr. Teller, but the police don’t just make them up. They are put in place by state and federal officeholders Mr. Teller more than likely helped to elect. Some of these seemingly frivolous laws are there because of whiners like him.
I suggest Mr. Teller call his closest police station and request a ride-along with an officer. I’m sure they would be happy to oblige. You could observe firsthand the pettiness, stupidity and some of the bad people our law enforcement officers have to deal with, day in and day out.
We have really good police forces in America. Be thankful. When Mr. Teller needs their help, they’ll be there for him in spite of what he says about them.
