Put You Ideas On Energy Shift Where Your Words Are
Sustainable Sept. writing contest deadline is Sept. 28
The top prize is a new commuter bike, worth $550 from Spoke “N Sport, so this Sierra Club- sponsored contest should be a piece of cake for all those poets, dramatists, fiction writers and essayists out there.
The theme is – “Shift to Green: Spokane’s Transition to Clean Energy.”
Brad Hash, regional representative of the Sierra Club out of Missoula, tells Down to Earth that creativity, factuality, personalization, the anecdotal, or anything goes, as long as the bards can keep the literary creation to one page typed.
Hash invited DTE’s Paul duo to be judges – Paul Dillon and myself will be part of the jury to see who gets to break in that bicycle from Spoke “N Sport.
The announcement will be Thursday, Sept. 30, 5 to 7 p.m. Isabella’s Rooftop, 35 W. Main Ave.
Those entries can be submitted to acontestofwords@gmail.com. Both Pauls will be diligent and accepting of the writers’ rifts and licks. It’s about vision, craft, and rhythm and follow-through.
Oh yeah, at DTE we will publish first and second place entries. So, get those laptops, Olivettis, PCs and writer’s pads burning. What is the shift to green? What is Spokane’s transition to clean energy?
Both Pauls will discuss the impact of words, messages, creative writing in this environmental movement. It’s absolutely necessary for the green movement to celebrate creativity and to embrace the humanities and arts to really impact people’s sensibilities.
