Vince Grippi’s Pac-10 picks

I’m pretty sure UCLA’s upset of Texas caught many people by surprise, including me. The smart ones, of course, took the Bruins and the 16 points. That, sorry to say, would not include me. It was just another in a long line of poor choices last week. Looking at it now, it may have been a real easy week compared to this one. So we’re in trouble. As always, the listed line is for your entertainment purposes only. All games Saturday unless listed otherwise. Arizona State at Oregon State (OSU by 3.5): When do the Beavers start to turn this season around? Is it this week? It better be. OSU, 31-27. Stanford at Oregon (Oregon by 7): Did anyone see the Cardinal rout of last year coming? I know I didn’t. And the Ducks didn’t either. They can put the tire marks in their rearview mirror. Oregon, 42-38. Washington at USC (USC by 10): The Trojans looked awful the first half against WSU. They looked pretty darn good the second half. Which team shows? I’m guessing the second-half group. USC, 35-27. Washington State at UCLA (UCLA by 27): Embarrassment has to count for something, doesn’t it? The Cougar defense was embarrassed last week. And the Bruins do have Cal next week. UCLA, 35-14. Last week: 5-1 overall, 2-4 vs. spread; Season: 29-5 overall, 16-11 vs. spread.
