Northwest Christian surges for win

Northwest Christian saw its lead dwindle in the fourth. Then the defending state champions stepped on the gas.

After Lind-Ritzville/Sprague came within three points in the final quarter, the Crusaders ended the game on a 23-8 run and beat the Broncos 62-44 in Bi-County League play Friday night in Ritzville.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague (2-4, 0-3), which trailed by 14 points at halftime, cut Northwest Christian’s lead to 39-36 with six minutes left in the fourth before the Crusaders (6-0, 3-0) took over.

Northwest Christian’s Kwinn Hanson scored 14 of his game-high 28 points in the fourth. Dylan Hartz scored 16 points and Colby Starring added 11 for the Broncos.

Springdale 46: Kettle Falls 36: Deylin Peone scored 12 of his game-high 14 points in the second half as the Chargers (3-1, 1-1) beat the host Bulldogs (1-4, 0-3).

Isaiah Wynecoop added 12 points and nine rebounds for Springdale. Luke Beardslee tallied a team-high 10 points for Kettle Falls.

Davenport 59, Reardan 53: Wyatt Evers scored 17 points and the Gorillas (4-0, 3-0) beat the host Indians (1-2, 1-1) in the Golden Plunger rivalry. Roy Walser led Reardan with 19 points.

Colfax 60, Liberty 49: Brandon Gfeller scored 17 of his game-high 26 points in the second quarter as the Bulldogs (3-0, 1-0) beat the host Lancers (2-3, 1-2). Gfeller made 10 of 15 shots and also pulled down nine rebounds.

Dylan Salsbury led Liberty with 14 points.

Nonleague

Lakeland 66, East Valley 65 (OT): The Hawks (2-3) surged in the fourth quarter to force overtime and nipped the host Knights (3-2). Lakeland outscored East Valley 25-8 in the final quarter to erase a 17-point deficit. Aaron Spencer had 16 points and Adam Black had 15 to lead the Hawks. J.T. Phelan had a team-high 18 points for East Valley.

Pullman 58, Grangeville 28: Corey Langerveld had 15 points and seven rebounds to lead the Greyhounds (3-1) to a rout of the host Bulldogs. Pullman forced Grangeville into 20 turnovers. Brady Barrett added 11 for the Greyhounds.

Timberlake 66, Wallace 34: Dakota Rice had 12 points and Austin Allen added 11 as the Tigers (4-1) eased past the host Miners (2-2). Tyler Beard led Wallace with 13 points.

West Valley 81, Lakeside (WA) 57: Jake Love led the way with 25 points and 12 rebounds as West Valley (4-0) dominated visiting Lakeside (2-3). Darian Vandermark added 18 points and five steals for West Valley. Jake Widman led Lakeside with 15 points.

Moscow 51, Clarkston 43: Lane Brooks scored 19 points and Josh Hebling added 10 as the Bears (4-2) edged the host Bantams (4-1). Drew Adams scored 10 of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter to lead Clarkston.

Freeman 80, Medical Lake 49: Mitch Vander Linden scored 26 points on 10-of-11 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds as the Scotties (2-4) crushed the visiting Cardinals (1-5). Cody Unfred tossed in 16 points and handed out five assists and Kellen Miller and Derek Harter each added 13 points for Freeman. Austin Garza led three Medical Lake players in double figures with 14 points.

Riverside 59, Deer Park 54: The Rams turned things around in the fourth quarter and beat their former Great Northern League rival in Riverside. Tyler Axtell scored 15 points and handed out five assists for the Rams (2-5), who outscored the Stags (3-1) 23-9 in the fourth to erase a nine-point deficit. Uconn Peonn scored a game-high 27 points on 10-of-20 shooting to lead Deer Park.

St. Maries 61, Cheney 58: Warren Joiner scored 13 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter as the Lumberjacks (3-0) held on to beat the host Blackhawks (4-2). Cheney’s half-court heave at the buzzer was no good. Eric Igbinoba tallied a team-high 17 points for the Blackhawks.

Wilbur-Creston 40, Soap Lake 36: The Wildcats (3-0) took their first lead halfway through the third quarter and held on to it for a win over the visiting Eagles. Colton Magers had 15 points and eight rebounds and Hayden Herdrick scored eight of his 12 points in the third to lead Wilbur-Creston.

Republic 37, Curlew 29: Jeremy Bertrang scored five points as the Tigers (1-5) beat the visiting Cougars (1-5) for their first win of the season. Garrett Weller made 5 of 5 free throws down the stretch to seal the win for Republic. Curlew was led by Jazz Brisbane’s nine points.

Potlatch 59, Garfield-Palouse 50: Potlatch shot more than 50 percent from the floor and beat the host Vikings (1-4). Anthony Floyd had 14 points and Wyatt Mitchell added 13 to lead Garfield-Palouse.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 63, Omak 55: Derek Isaak put together an impressive game with 31 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Warriors (3-0) past the visiting Pioneers. Colin Deyarmin added 10 points for Almira/Coulee-Hartline, which made 9 of 13 free throws in the fourth to seal the win.

Odessa-Harrington 61, St. John-Endicott 51: Stetson Jones scored 20 points as the Titans (2-3) built a comfortable first-half lead and held on to beat the host Eagles (3-1). Evan Jones led St. John-Endicott with 18 points.

Coeur d’Alene Charter 62, Lakeside (Idaho) 40: Bryan Smith scored 18 points and Jacob Shapiro added 14 points and eight rebounds as the Panthers (3-3) won at Plummer. Joseph Chapman tallied a team-high nine points for the Knights (3-2).

Tri-Cities Prep 55, LaCrosse-Washtucna 46: The Jaguars jumped ahead early in their win over the host Tigercats (1-2). Darcy Stamper scored 17 points for LaCrosse-Washtucna.

North Star League

Kootenai 43, Clark Fork 34: Graydon Myhre scored 12 points and Brandon Carman added 11 as the host Warriors (2-3, 1-0) pulled away to beat the Wampus Cats (1-3, 1-1) in Harrison. Greg Boudousquie tossed in a team-high 10 points for Clark Fork.

Panorama League

Northport 69, Inchelium 40: The Mustangs (6-1, 3-0) ramped up their full-court pressure defense in the fourth quarter and routed the visiting Hornets (0-5, 0-3). Frederik Verhaeghe led four players in double figures with 18 points for Northport. Jeremiah Johnson had 10 points, 11 steals and five assists and Dylan Masters added 15 points and 11 boards for the Mustangs.

Wellpinit 67, Columbia 28: Greg Wynecoop scored 20 points, A.J. Kieffer had 17 and Brodie Ford chipped in 16 as the Redskins (3-2, 3-0) routed the host Lions (1-4, 1-2) in Hunters. Dominick Marquez had a team-high 12 points for Columbia.

Selkirk 57, Cusick 51: Avery Miller led the Rangers (2-5, 2-1) in a win over the host Panthers (3-2, 3-1). Miller tossed in a game-high 29 points as Selkirk made 22 of 42 shots. Alec Bluff had 18 points and Cameron Bauer added 11 for Cusick.
