Roundup: CdA tops Mead in girls basketball
Coeur d’Alene added to Mead’s early-season miseries Saturday night.
The Vikings pulled away in the fourth quarter and beat the Panthers 57-50 in a nonleague game in Coeur d’Alene. The loss was Mead’s fifth out of six games to open the season.
Kendalyn Brainard led the way for the Vikings (7-2) with 19 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
Caelyn Orlandi and Erin Legel added 11 points apiece for Coeur d’Alene.
Jade Redmon tallied a team-high 20 points and Sue Winger added 12 for Mead (1-5).
West Valley 36, Sandpoint 31: Aaliyah Ashley-Meek scored 11 points and Cassie Finn added nine as the Eagles (2-2) held off the visiting Bulldogs (6-6). Hailey Olin tossed in a game-high 13 points for Sandpoint.
Priest River 51, Newport 42: Liz Halcro scored 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as the Spartans (6-3) claimed the title at the Priest River Christmas Tournament. Priest River outscored the Grizzlies 18-9 in the third quarter to take a seven-point lead into the fourth. Taylor Lewis scored 15 points and Miranda Frederick chipped in 12 for Newport (6-1).
Okanogan 50, Cheney 42: The Bulldogs rallied in the fourth quarter and beat the visiting Blackhawks (2-4). Okanogan outscored Cheney 20-7 in the fourth quarter to erase a five-point deficit. Allie Brown tallied a team-high 13 points for Cheney.
Odessa-Harrington 54, Soap Lake 28: The visiting Eagles had no answer for the Titans’ full-court, pressure defense and Odessa-Harrington (1-5) cruised to the win. Kendall Todd scored 11 of her game-high 15 points in the first half for the Titans.
Lake Roosevelt 57, Bridgeport 26: Dominique Pleasants scored 16 points and Roweena Antoine added 10 as the Raiders routed the Mustangs in the championship game of the Raider Holiday Classic at Coulee Dam.

St. George’s 44, Kettle Falls 37: Alex Wert scored half of her game-high 14 points in the first quarter and the Dragons (2-3, 2-0) edged the visiting Bulldogs (1-6, 1-4). Brenna Russell added 13 points for St. George’s. Josie Stanard led Kettle Falls with 12 points.
Colfax 46, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 27: The Bulldogs’ stifling defense in the second quarter propelled them to a win over the host Broncos. Hannah Harazin scored a team-high 13 points for Colfax (3-1, 3-0), which held Lind-Ritzville/Sprague (2-5, 0-5) scoreless in the second quarter.
Northwest Christian 74, Davenport 39: Courtney Gray scored 18 points and Chanel Knight added 13 points and eight rebounds as the Crusaders (6-2, 4-1) routed the host Gorillas (3-2, 2-2). Northwest Christian slammed the door in the fourth quarter, outscoring Davenport 25-7. Kylie Hudkins-Shelton led the Gorillas with 13 points.
Reardan 74, Springdale 39: Kelsey Moos had 14 points and eight rebounds and Zari Reeves added 10 points and 10 boards as the Indians (6-0, 4-0) overwhelmed the visiting Chargers (2-4, 2-2). Katy Burge scored 12 points and Tori Wynecoop 10 for Reardan.
Cusick 64, Riverside 56 (OT): After scoring 23 points in the fourth quarter to tie the game, Riverside was held scoreless in overtime in a 64-56 nonleague loss at Cusick. Andrea Heinen had 31 points and eight rebounds to lead the Panthers (6-2). Courtney Davis led Riverside (3-5) with 25. The Rams rallied in the fourth to erase an eight-point deficit.

Northport 59, Curlew 48: Marissa Gilmore scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Mustangs (1-8, 1-4) beat the visiting Cougars (2-6, 0-4). Northport’s Sarah Gosen nailed three 3-pointers just before halftime to extend the Mustangs’ lead to 10. Gosen finished with 14 points. Haleigh Gibson scored 18 points for Curlew.
Columbia 66, Selkirk 35: Elizabeth Larrew scored 16 points and Lindsay Loe added 15 as the Lions (7-0, 5-0) routed the host Rangers (6-3, 3-2) in Ione. Katie Couch led Selkirk with 14 points.
Southeast 1B League
Colton 69, Tekoa-Oakesdale 22: The visiting Wildcats (6-0, 4-0) took advantage of a poor-shooting Nighthawks (4-3, 2-2) team and won easily. Jenna Moser and Payton Meyer scored 14 points apiece to lead Colton.
Rosalia 40, St. John-Endicott 22: Briann Maley scored 17 points and surpassed 1,000 for her career as the Spartans (6-0, 4-0) built a commanding first-half lead and cruised past the visiting Eagles (3-3, 2-2). Mackenzie Reddish tossed in 18 points for the Spartans.
Garfield-Palouse 53, Pomeroy 48: Kaycie Adair had 16 points and five steals and Terrie Taylor added 14 points and 13 rebounds as the Vikings (4-2, 2-2) edged the host Pirates (2-4, 1-3). Savannah Ruard led Pomeroy with 17 points.
LaCrosse-Washtucna 36, Touchet 27: Logan Harter had 10 points and eight rebounds to lead the Tigercats (2-4, 1-3) past the host Indians (2-4, 0-4). Kristen Warner led Touchet with 15 points and 16 boards.
