Emory carries Bears

No matter how you spell it, there’s no getting around the fact that Sydney Emory had a career night.

The Central Valley junior guard, whose name has been misspelled more times than cited correctly in box scores this season, had a career-high 28 points to lead the Bears past the visiting University Titans 60-55 in Greater Spokane League girls basketball play Tuesday.

Emory scored the game’s first six points on 3-pointers. She also made 9 of 9 foul shots as the struggling and defending champion Bears improved to 4-7 overall, 3-6 in league.

CV made 23 of 25 foul shots. The Bears also received 21 points from Brooke Gallaway.

Hallie Gennett led the Titans (5-6, 4-5) with 13 points and Lexi Clark and Cassie Shillam had 12 each.

Gonzaga Prep 61, Mt. Spokane 38: Another win for the league-leading Bullpups (10-1, 9-0) another stellar defensive effort.

The visiting Bullpups put the defensive clamps on as the Wildcats (4-6, 3-6) had no answer. Lindsay Stockton led G-Prep with 19 points.

Lewis and Clark 46, North Central 36: The Tigers (9-1, 8-1) got 22 points, five rebounds and three steals from Devyn Galland over the visiting Indians (6-5, 5-4).

Riley Holsinger led NC with 22 points. Hayley Hendricksen led LC with 10 rebounds.

Shadle Park 59, Mead 48: The Highlanders (8-3, 7-2) opened a 31-19 lead by halftime over the Panthers (7-4, 5-4) at Mead.

Aleisha Hathaway led Shadle with 19 points. Taylor Ingebritsen had 12 points and five rebounds and Kalee Junkermier had 11 points for Mead.
