Markin helps U-Hi to win

Cady Markin won the balance beam (9.65 points) and floor exercise (9.45) Thursday to lead University to the team title at a five-team Greater Spokane League gymnastics meet at Mt. Spokane.

U-Hi scored 169.875 points in preparation for next week’s matchup with Mead to decide the league title.

Lakeside’s Anandae Egland (36.65) won the all-around without winning an individual event.

Shadle Park’s Alana Norman, third in the all-around (36.125), took the uneven bars (9.225) and vault (9.45).

Kellogg 71, Kootenai 22: Tyler Morgan scored 17 points and Taylor Hulstrom added 12 points and eight rebounds as the Wildcats (10-3) dashed past the visiting Warriors (3-7). Keagan Hadley added eight rebounds for the Wildcats, and Nick Serrano, Jason Reed and Ryan Beggerly combined for 13 assists.
