Reading lesson
Nancy Runyan wants to know what the tea party wants (Letters, Jan. 12). She tells us where the Constitution is and asks if we have read it. We have read it. It is the people in Washington, D.C., who need to read it.
She talks about a well-regulated militia. There isn’t one. The armed citizens become the militia if the need ever arises to fight an oppressive government, native or foreign. Any military expert in the world will tell you that the Americans are the best riflemen in the world.
She states that anyone can get a gun and do what he wants with it. Not true. If he does, he may go to prison or an insane asylum.
We World War II veterans know the cost of freedom. Nancy Runyan only knows all about blind, unquestioning self-righteousness.
