U.S. U-19 tops Canada
RIGA, Latvia – James Bell of Villanova had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead the United States to an 83-54 victory over Canada on Monday, the opening day of the second round of the FIBA Under 19 World Championships.
Doug McDermott of Creighton added 10 points for the U.S. (4-0), the defending champion and the only undefeated team left among the 12 remaining countries.
Canada (1-3) shot 30 percent from the field.
Arizona State signee Jahii Carson of Phoenix, the only high school player on the U.S. roster, had six points and six assists.
The U.S. team plays Lithuania (3-1) today.
