Arrested Washington running back Johri Fogerson was arrested for resisting arrest and possession of 40 grams or less of marijuana after running from police following a traffic stop. According to Snohomish (Wash.) County Jail records, Fogerson was booked on the two charges. Bail was set at $500. Washington coach Steve Sarkisian said the school is still gathering information and will comment if it takes any action.
Declined A McLennan (Texas) County grand jury declined to indict Baylor guard LaceDarius Dunn, effectively ending the assault case against him. Dunn, Baylor’s career leading scorer, missed the first three games after he was arrested and accused of breaking his girlfriend’s jaw in September. The woman, LaCharlesla Edwards, the mother of Dunn’s young son, disputed police accounts and had asked that charges be dropped.
Signed Pro Bowl tight end Owen Daniels agreed to a new contract with the Houston Texans. The Houston Chronicle, which first reported the four-year deal, said it was worth about $22 million.
• Free-agent safety O.J. Atogwe signed a five-year, $26 million contract with the Washington Redskins, upgrading a vital position on a defense that ranked 31st last season. He was cut following six seasons with the St. Louis Rams.
• A.J. Hawk’s absence from the Green Bay Packers didn’t last long. The linebacker signed a five-year deal with the Packers one day after he was released in a cost-cutting move.
• The Carolina Panthers found a potential boost for the NFL’s worst offense by signing four-time Pro Bowl tight end Jeremy Shockey on a one-year deal. Shockey was cut by New Orleans last week.
• Safety Bob Sanders agreed to a one-year deal with the San Diego Chargers. The oft-injured Sanders, the 2007 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, was released by the Indianapolis Colts last month.
• Seneca Wallace is staying with the Cleveland Browns after agreeing to terms on a new contract with the team. He was 1-3 after replacing starter Jake Delhomme last season.
