In brief: Bicyclist, 16, hit crossing street

A teenage bicyclist was trapped under a car about 8 p.m. Friday after he was struck while crossing a road.

The 16-year-old, whose name was not released, was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, said Sgt. Kevin Huddle of the Spokane Police Department. The driver, Richard Snow, was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian.

Snow was turning onto southbound Grand Boulevard from eastbound 29th Avenue when he hit the bicyclist in the crosswalk. Huddle said the driver was making a right on a red light. He stopped and checked traffic before making the turn but did not see the bicyclist, who had the right-of-way.

The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet.

Hells Angels member released

A Hells Angel member arrested on a marijuana charge Thursday in Spokane was released from jail on his own recognizance Friday.

Michael Ryan Fitzpatrick, 33, was booked into jail Thursday on one felony charge of delivery of a controlled substance after selling marijuana in a “controlled drug buy” set up by the Spokane Regional Drug Task Force last October, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The affidavit contains no information about Fitzpatrick’s arrest, which occurred Thursday, as federal agents and Spokane police searched the Hells Angels clubhouse at 1308 E. Sprague Ave. Fitzpatrick was not at the club at the time but was arrested at a different location.

Also arrested was Hells Angels sergeant at arms Ricky W. Jenks, 33, on a federal charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm after investigators say they found six loaded firearms in the clubhouse. Jenks remains in jail without bail.

Pair accused of stealing wallet

Two suspected wallet snatchers led the victim on a 100 mph chase in Spokane Valley Thursday night, police said Friday.

Valley resident Robert A. Hunter, 25, and Jenna L. Myers, 25, of Coeur d’Alene, were arrested on theft charges after allegedly fleeing the Tesoro gas station, 13800 E. Trent Ave., with a wallet Myers picked up in the parking lot.

A 22-year-old Spokane Valley man dropped the wallet as he got out of his vehicle. The store employee told police he saw Myers pick up the wallet, then drive away with Hunter. The victim ran to his car and pursued the couple west on Trent as the Tesoro employee called police with the suspects’ license plate number.

The victim quit the pursuit, police said, but officers soon arrested Hunter and Myers at Sprague Avenue and Flora Road. The victim told police the couple ran stop signs and reached speeds of more than 100 mph on arterials, neighborhood streets and Interstate 90.

Myers stashed cash in her underwear and threw the wallet from the car as they crossed a bridge over the Spokane River, police said. Officers recovered both.
