West Valley boys down Tumwater

YAKIMA – With one final chance for a state tournament trophy, the present and the future of West Valley basketball came together for one standout quarter in the SunDome, dashing past Tumwater 60-52 in the consolation round of the State 2A boys basketball tournament at the SunDome.

The win assures the Eagles (23-4) a first 2A trophy in four appearances. They will play Grandview (24-3) at 8 this morning in the fourth-place game.

Freshman Jake Love and senior Brady Bagby each scored six points in the final period as the Eagles cracked open a tight contest that had eight lead changes and eight ties.

Love, the heir apparent to standout Bagby, finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Bagby had 14 points and junior Darian Vandermark scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Tumwater finished the season 18-10.
