New schedule

Monday: Millwood, Greenacres, Otis Orchards, Liberty Lake and the city of Spokane Valley areas south of Upriver Drive and north of Interstate 90.

Tuesday: Chattaroy, Colbert and Mead, including everything north of Upriver Drive to the east of Argonne Road and everything north of Trent Avenue to the west of Argonne Road.

Wednesday: Deer Park and everything south to Francis Avenue (and west of Division Street) in Spokane, including the Five Mile area.

Thursday: Chester, Ponderosa and Carnahan neighborhoods in Spokane Valley, plus areas south of the Spokane city limits east of Highway 195.

Friday: Opportunity, Veradale and Dishman neighborhoods in Spokane Valley

Residents in the Spokane County and Spokane Valley areas served by Waste Management will see different trash pickup days beginning Monday. More than 44,000 customers will be affected by the change.

The changes are being made to consolidate routes and make them more efficient, according to a Waste Management press release. Changes should also make things easier for drivers during winter weather.

Residents should expect to get a letter and a phone call from Waste Management before the new schedule takes effect. Reminder stickers will also be placed on garbage containers.

The new schedule may create a situation where some residents have to wait more than seven days for a trash pickup. According to Waste Management the company will collect a double load at no extra cost on the first day of the new collection schedule.
