13th Annual Basset Blast - “HOWLywoood.” Hosted by Washington Basset Rescue and SCRAPS. Featuring raffles, events, doggie favor bags, awards and more. Events include: Best Waddle, Best Howl, Best Costume, Best Basset Photo and more. For photo contest, bring one photo, no larger than 4x6 inches. Contestants must be basset hounds or basset mix. No puppies less than four months old allowed. Dogs must be leashed and please scoop their poop. All proceeds benefit the Basset Rescue program. Iller Creek Conservation Area Plant ID Walk - Hosted by the Northeast Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society. Learn the names of native plants while taking a leisurely hike through a semiarid ponderosa pine forest. If you take half the walk (2.5 hours), bring water and a snack. If you take the entire walk (about five hours), bring water and a lunch. There will be some steep stretches, so wear sturdy shoes or boots; 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Meet at the Redeemer Lutheran Church parking lot, 3606 S. Schafer Road, to carpool to the trail head. Free.
