Letter: Chiefs did us proud

This is in response to the article (“Surprising Chiefs …,” May 12) by staff writer Dave Trimmer.

A couple of weeks ago, the Spokane Chiefs hockey team made its last hurrah at home against the Portland Winterhawks. It was a time of sadness and of joy for the Chiefs. There was sadness because the Chiefs were done for the season and lost their chance at the coveted Memorial Cup, but joy because the Chiefs did much better than expected and did fantastic.

The Arena staff, coaching staff and players made this season the best since our last Memorial Cup.  The loyal fans, too, deserve credit. During the last minute of the last game, every fan in the Spokane Arena stood and clapped, which shows great heart and extreme dedication.

In the article, Trimmer recaps the Chiefs’ season and gives great inside stories and stats of the season. Not bad for a team that was predicted to be last in its division at the start of the season.
