Colville, Freeman advance to state volleyball

Colville and Freeman had impressive showings at the regional tournament Saturday in Yakima and advanced to the state tournament. Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) lost its first match and was eliminated.

The State 1A tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at the Yakima SunDome.

Colville

After a win over Cascade in the semifinals, the Indians beat Freeman for the fourth time this season to earn the No. 1 seed to state.

Game scores were 25-21, 25-9, 25-19.

Gacy Vining had nine kills and six bocks and Leanna Carr passed out 27 assist to lead Colville.

The Indians have handed the Scotties their only four losses this season.

In its earlier match, Colville whipped Cascade (Leavenworth) 25-15, 25-12, 25-20. Carr had 31 assists and Erin Little had four block and four aces.

Colville made it to state last year and beat Naches Valley in the consolation finals.

Freeman

The Scotties made it to the title game with wins over Okanogan and Chelan.

Freeman beat Chelan, the Caribou Trail League’s top seed, 25-19, 25-23, 25-16.

Kaela Straw had 14 kills and Maya Jansen had 13 digs and three aces.

The Scotties made it to state in 2009 but missed out last year.
