Mt. Spokane soccer nips Kamiakin in SO
KENNEWICK – Mt. Spokane qualified for the State 3A girls soccer quarterfinals Tuesday by defeating the Kamiakin Braves 1-0 in a shootout during a state opener at Lampson Stadium.
Juniors Alyssa Lloyd and Sydney Nelson, sophomore Ashley Pedersen and senior Carissa Yedica scored for the Wildcats (11-7) during the 4-3 shootout.
Senior goalkeeper Whittni Mundel had her sixth shutout of the season for Mt. Spokane, which qualified for state by defeating University in a shootout last Saturday.
Mt. Spokane will travel to play Eastside Catholic during Saturday’s quarterfinals. Eastside Catholic edged Southridge 1-0 on Shelby Newell’s goal at 64 minutes.
