In brief: Inland Crafts sale starts Friday
RIVERSIDE – The 29th Annual Inland Crafts Sale and Exhibition will be in the ballrooms at the Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd., Friday through Sunday. Hours are Friday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The sale, featuring local artists, will include pottery, glass, basketry, jewelry, fiber arts, wood works, metal design and photography. Visitors can attend demonstrations and workshops by artists on silk painting and jewelry fabrication, along with a printmaking demonstration provided by Whitworth University students. The event will also include a wine lounge, featuring local wines from Vintage Hill Cellars and Market Place Wine Bar. Microbrews will also be available in the wine lounge.

Gift box donations sought for kids
SPOKANE – Area organizations will begin putting together boxes for Operation Christmas Child during National Collection Week, beginning Monday. The boxes will be delivered to the children by Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian relief organization. The community can help by dropping off boxes containing toys, candy, school supplies, toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap for children in war-torn and poverty-stricken countries. Diaper drive goes through Nov. 18
NEVADA/ LIDGERWOOD – Acceleration Physical Therapy, 7407 N. Division St., will have a diaper drive now through Nov. 18, to benefit Inland NW Baby.
Items needed include diapers in all sizes, diaper wipes, socks sizes 4T to 14, and coats. Inland NW Baby was founded by Central Valley High School student Jesse Sheldon, who began the organization to provide basic items and hygiene items, to area children in need.

Benefit planned at Olive Crest
EMERSON/GARFIELD – Olive Crest will have its sixth annual dessert and auction on Nov. 19 at the Lincoln Center, 1316 N. Lincoln St., at 6 p.m.
The event will include a silent auction, dessert, beer, wine, nonalcoholic beverages and a live auction at 7:30 p.m. Items to be auctioned off include vacation packages and gift baskets.
Tickets are $25 per person and proceeds benefit Olive Crest, a nonprofit organization that serves abused, neglected and at-risk children in Eastern Washington.

Food bank needs volunteer drivers
SPOKANE COUNTY – Second Harvest Food Bank is in need of volunteers to help deliver and pick up food drive barrels and boxes at locations throughout Spokane. Additional volunteers are also needed to assist drivers with loading and unloading food drive containers. Volunteers must be able to maneuver full containers weighing more than 50 pounds. Drivers must have a current Washington state driver’s license.
Shifts are during the business day, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Rec volleyball, hoops seek teams
SPOKANE COUNTY – Spokane County Parks and Recreation is now registering teams for adult winter volleyball and basketball leagues.
There are multiple divisions to accommodate every skill level and teams that register and pay in full by the registration deadline will be automatically entered to win customized team jerseys. Registration deadline is Nov. 22.
