In brief: Rotary offers Dec. 3 Breakfast with Santa

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Spokane Valley Rotary Club will have Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 3, from 9 to 11 a.m. at CenterPlace in Mirabeau Park, 2426 N. Discovery Place.

Santa will arrive at the pancake breakfast at 9:30 a.m., on a Spokane Valley Fire truck.

Tickets are $4 per person and may be purchased at the door.

Proceeds will benefit the Spokane Valley Rotary fund to help support community projects including college scholarships, Rotary service projects and aid to the elderly.

The Rotary Club’s Celebration of Lights and Christmas tree lighting will be Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m. at University City.

SCRAPS seeks dog house donations

SPOKANE COUNTY – As winter approaches the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service is looking for donations of dog houses.

The annual drive collects new and used dog houses in good condition that can be given to residents who need them.

People are asked to bring donations to SCRAPS at 2521 N. Flora Road. Residents interested in receiving a dog house can call (509) 477-2532.

Samaritan chili feed to benefit families

GREENACRES – The Good Samaritan Society will hold a chili feed on Dec. 3 at the Community Center, 17121 E. Eighth Ave., from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Cornbread, cookies and drinks will be included along with live music by Tristan Schmick.

Cost is $5 per person or $20 for a family of five. Proceeds will benefit two area families struggling with medical crises. For more information, call (509) 924-6161.

Also, beginning Monday, Zumba gold classes are scheduled at the Community Center, from 10:15 to 11 a.m. each Monday.

Zumba gold is for people who need modifications in regular Zumba, and is appealing to seniors. It is done at half tempo and can also be done in chairs. Cost is $3 per person, per class.
