College roundup: Idaho men hold off Lewis-Clark State
Center Kyle Barone had team highs of 19 points and nine rebounds Wednesday night to lift Idaho (2-2) to an 80-75 win over Lewis-Clark State in nonconference men’s basketball at Boise.
Landon Tatum added 11 points and a team-high eight assists for the Vandals.
Deremy Geiger scored 15 points for Idaho, including two free throws with 2 minutes, 9 seconds left for a 75-70 lead and the game’s final two points.
The Vandals shot 29 of 45 from the floor to overcome a 38-37 halftime deficit.
Darin Stewart scored 18 points for the Warriors, who counted the game as an exhibition.
Women’s basketball
Junior guard Lauren Picha scored a career-high 27 points to carry Whitworth (1-3) to a 72-67 nonconference win over host Evergreen State (1-3) at Olympia.
Picha, from nearby Puyallup, Wash., hit 10 of 14 field goals, including 3 of 5 3-pointers, and added five rebounds.
Emily Guthrie added nine rebounds and four assists for the Pirates.
