WOODLAND, Wash. – The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office says it’s tracking down leads and asking the public for help finding whoever is responsible for taking a dog from a Woodland, Wash., woman and holding the animal for ransom.

Jennifer Thomas told the Sheriff’s Office that her English bulldog named Jagger disappeared Oct. 4 and she believes it was stolen.

She received a series of text messages from an unknown caller offering to exchange the dog for cash and prescription drugs.

The Sheriff’s Office said the dog is valued at $1,900.

Sheriff Mark Nelson said, “We take cases like this very seriously.”

He added that he has had multiple deputies working on it.
