Front Porch makes for good reading
I’d like to put in a word for the Front Porch that appears in The Voice. I can understand the sentiments of a reader’s criticism of these columns (Voice, Aug. 18) that appeared recently in The Voice. She was concerned that the columns were not talking about “real women’s issues.”
Personally, I enjoy hearing about “Chicken” and today (Aug. 25) about Thor, the wonder kitten. And the column done about the death of the writer’s father-in-law was very well done – an appropriate tribute without being maudlin.
These columns may be trivial in some eyes, but it’s a good trivial reminding us that there are ordinary people writing about their lives, not unlike the journals kept by early settlers that tell us so much about life and times.
