In brief: Intersection to reopen Sept. 21
SPOKANE VALLEY – The intersection of Sullivan Road and Indiana Avenue is expected to be open to traffic on Sept. 21, the city of Spokane Valley announced this week. The intersection has been closed for several weeks to allow the asphalt to be replaced with concrete. The opening date is later than originally planned to allow the concrete more time to cure, which will increase the life expectancy of the concrete.
Until then Sullivan will continue to be limited to one lane of northbound traffic and one lane of southbound traffic. Turns are restricted and people interested in going to the Spokane Valley Mall are encouraged to use Evergreen Road. Businesses on Indiana east of the intersection can be accessed from westbound Interstate 90 or the newly completed extension of Indiana that connects to Flora Road.
Information on road construction is available on the city’s web site at www.spokanevalley.org.
Broadway school burglarized

There was no damage to the school’s doors or windows and surveillance video didn’t show any burglary suspects. Teachers working in their classrooms over the weekend said that there didn’t appear to be anyone in the school that didn’t belong there. The total estimated loss to the school was approximately $250.
