River beautification on course

Flow charters: Workers carefully shape one of several new concrete weirs on the rocky Spokane River bed Monday in Riverfront Park. The weirs will route the river’s north channel in a more aesthetically pleasing way. The structures will block both man-made and natural cuts in the rocky bed so the water flows into rocky pools and over falls. The work satisfies part of the utility’s dam licensing agreement.
