KILE, Lester Jean
(Age 85)

Lester Jean Kile passed away peacefully on March 30, 2012 with his family by his side.

He was preceded in death two weeks earlier by the love of his life and wife of 16 years, Theresa Powers-Kile.


Born March 4, 1927 in Thornton, Washington; Jean was the only child of Lester Adam and Grace Kile.

Jean graduated from Rosalia High School and began his lifelong farming career.

As a passionate fourth generation wheat farmer, his family farm was honored as one of Washington’s Centennial Wheat Farms in 1981.


He wed Virginia Cook in 1949 and they raised four children: Vickie, Larry, Jeannie, and Cindy.

Jean supported community organizations such as the Pine City 4-H and Kenova Grange.

Jean had an infallible work ethic and even after retirement remained deeply involved in the farming operation.

He was well known in the area for his engineering and farming techniques.

In his downtime, Jean was an avid hunter and fisherman.


He married Theresa Powers in 1995, and together they shared the last years of their lives; laughing, dancing, joking and enjoying their families.

Jean spent his leisure years in his beloved wood shop putting his natural carpentry gifts to use.


He is survived by his children: Vickie Nussbaumer (Skip Mulrony), Goldendale, WA, Larry Kile (Susan), Pine City, WA, Jeannie Kile Spokane, WA, and Cindy Kile Spokane, WA, eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his stepchildren and his stepgrandchildren.


Jean will be interred in the Pine City Cemetery.

In honor of his wishes, there will be a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5.
