Man suspected of arson at E. 8th apartment complex

The Spokane Fire Department arrested a 29-year-old man Tuesday on suspicion of 1st degree arson.
Ian W. Godfrey is suspected of burning “material” in an East Eighth Avenue apartment complex’s stairwell, according to a news release from the fire department.
Fire crews responding to an alarm at the HiFumi En Apartments Tuesday noticed evidence of attempted arson, the release said, and contacted the Special Investigation Unit.
Godfrey was booked into Spokane County Jail later that day.
